Last minute goal earns the Union a tie

Monterey Bay F.C. tied their Cinco De Mayo game against the visiting Pittsburgh Riverhounds. In their next game, Union will be facing the Los Angeles F. C. in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cardinale Stadium. 

The Union started the game down a goal and tied it up at halftime. After Monterey Bay had a penalty kick just minutes after the start of the second half, Pittsburgh took possession of the ball and came dangerously close to scoring. The Union’s defense was on high alert, but was unable to keep the Riverhounds from scoring another goal.

There were a couple instances of conflict on the field and there was a clash amongst players which the refs broke up. Fans booed the refs. 

Monterey Bay was able to stay composed under the pressure of the clock and scored their final goal in the last couple of minutes, bringing the final score to 2-2.
