Ethridge

A name passed down by my father
along with his bipolar disorder and fear of attachment.
As a child,
I was told stories of Ethridges before me from the Wild West –
outlaws forced to drop the extra e in an effort to hide from the sheriffs
after stealing their horses.
Distant relatives see me and say I have the Ethridge nose –
strong, just like my will.
