Heads up Otters, it’s graduation time!

If you’re graduating this semester, first of all, congratulations! Secondly, do you have all you need? If you didn’t pre-order your cap and gown for the ceremony, it’s not too late! Happening after spring break, Gradfest will give students opportunities to pick up the rest of their graduate needs.

On April 3 and 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., students can head to the Otter Student Union ballroom to purchase their cap and gown, pick them up if you pre-ordered them, purchase their stoles, get their commencement invitations, socialize with other graduates and get graduation portraits taken.

Students who have been notified they qualify to graduate with an academic honor can pick up their honor cords during GradFest. If not, honor cords can be picked up at the Administration Building (Building 1) up until the day before graduation from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As a bonus this year, students who check in at the door are entered to win some prizes! Students only need to attend one session because both days will feature the same opportunities.

If you are unable to attend GradFest and still haven’t bought your cap and gown, it can still be ordered from the HerffJones website (https://colleges.herffjones.com/college/_csumb/) and shipped to your house/dorm, or purchased from the CSUMB bookstore. The deadline to have it shipped is April 18 by 9 p.m.

If students are unable to get their own cap and gown, Basic Needs offers rentals. Email them at [email protected] with your height and if you are a graduate or undergraduate student.

To attend the commencement ceremony, students must wear regalia. For undergraduates, this is a cap and gown; for master students, it’s a gown and hood with the corresponding color of their degree.
