Monterey Jazz Festival comes to CSUMB

In celebration of the 2022 Jazz Festival Week and National HBCU Week, the Monterey Jazz Festival is collaborating with California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) to present a free jazz concert on Thursday, Sept. 22,  in honor of Bob Danziger, a friend of CSUMB and the Monterey Bay Jazz Festival.

The concert, sponsored by McDonald’s, will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the World Theater and is free to CSUMB students and community members.

There will be performances by the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, Next Generation Women in Jazz Combo, and performances from the jazz ensembles and choirs of Morgan State University and Texas Southern University.

Outside the free concert on campus, the 65th annual Monterey Jazz Festival will take place from Sept. 23 – 25.

The festival will feature a workshop with Google and a booth from CSUMB, giving students the chance to hear about the school’s relationship with the festival regarding regional stewardship.

The Department of Music & Performing Arts has student tickets available and regular tickets which can be purchased on the Monterey Bay Jazz Festival’s website.
