Cal State Monterey Bay’s (CSUMB) annual Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 18 for the graduating class of 2024. The ceremonies will be held at Salinas Sports Complex, 1034 N. Main St Salinas.

CSUMB’s 2024 Commencement Ceremony will not be divided by colleges. Instead, all graduates will walk during the main Commencement Ceremony starting at 10 a.m.
This year’s ceremony will also include a Commencement Festival for all attendees. The Commencement Festival will include food and beverages, photo opportunities, gifts and entertainment.
There will be two rehearsals for graduates held at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Friday, May 17. Attendance is highly recommended.
Graduates can expect the Commencement to go as follows:
● Processional
● Welcome and remarks
● Degree recognition (crossing the stage)
● Recessional
Commencement is expected to last approximately 2-2:30 hours. Graduates will be seated within their college and are expected to stay the duration of the commencement ceremony.
Attendees are advised to expect heavy traffic and to arrive early and follow all directional signage and instructions from any parking service personnel. Attendees should allow themselves an extra 45 minutes to find parking due to the heavy traffic.
Parking permits are not required for this year’s commencement. Parking at the Salinas Sports Complex and nearby parking lots will be free and on a first come first serve basis.
ADA parking is available for faculty or vehicles with state-issued ADA placards. Spaces will be clearly marked.
A free shuttle from campus to the Salinas Sports Complex will run from 6:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Graduates need to be at the Salinas Sports Complex, dressed in complete regalia, two hours prior to the start of their ceremony. There will be snacks and beverages provided. The Campus Store will also be on hand for last-minute purchases. Graduates are highly advised to not buy gowns on the morning of commencement.
The Commencement Ceremonies are all held outdoors regardless of weather. Attendees should arrive prepared both for heat and inclement weather. All bags, jackets and blankets will be searched upon arrival.
