California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) Otters enjoyed their last farmer’s market before delving into their finals for the last couple weeks of the semester.
Hosted by Associated Students, the Farmer’s Market takes place every Thursday from 2-6 p.m. where they have fresh produce, food vendors and more available for students to enjoy. The final Farmer’s Market for the semester had a “Star Wars” May the 4th theme and the first 100 people who attended received a free $10 coupon.
Their list of vendors for this spring semester included Arellano Farms, Castellano Farms, Rodriguez Farms, Santa Rosa Flowers, India Gourmet, Aguas Barajas, Hummus Heaven, Ivan’s Baked Potatoes, La Marea of the Sea and La Boba el Grano de Cafe.
Student favorites for this semester seemed to be Ivan’s Baked Potatoes, Hummus Heaven and La Boba el Grano de Cafe.
CSUMB’s Basic Needs Committee, an on-campus organization that endeavors to support students to be successful by ensuring their basic needs are met through easily accessible resources, held its own booth at the Associated Students Farmer’s Market as well.
At the Basic Needs booth, students who use EBT are able to cash in their EBT funds in exchange for tokens that can be used to purchase produce at hot goods from vendors.
With a consistently good turn-out of students showing up every Thursday, the Associated Students Farmer’s Market has become one of the student body’s favorite on-campus events this semester.
Although nothing is set in stone yet, Associated Students is eager and hopeful that the Farmer’s Markets will be back in the fall.
