Students were welcomed by Basic Needs and encouraged to play games in the Main Quad at the Carnival for a Cause on Wednesday, April 19. In celebration of Earth Week, Basic Needs organized the carnival, raffle and food/clothing drive while informing students about sustainability. Students who made donations to Basic Needs were entered into a raffle to win an iPad, an airfryer or 50 points at the Basic Needs Hub.
According to Jayden Saecho, the Associated Students Basic Needs Senator, “we were hoping to get as many [donations] as possible and that students will see everything that Basic Needs does for us by providing free food and free things. We want to give back to students just for being students.”
Saecho helped organize the carnival, which featured games such as inflatable ax throwing, soccer, darts and archery. While there were only three raffle winners, every student had the opportunity to release their competitive side to play – and potentially win – games.
“I wanted to do something interactive for the students and have fun,” said Saecho.
Marco Herera won the iPad, Ken Hlaing won an air fryer and Elijah Raya won 50 points to the Basic Needs Hub.
Congratulations to raffle winners!
