At long last, the OE finally opens

On Monday, Feb 21, the Otter Express (OE), after being closed and remodeled for over two years, reopened to the students, staff, and faculty of California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB).

As the days passed, students got more and more eager to try out all the new things it would offer.

“I like how friendly everybody is, the chefs are nice, and I feel like if you need something done differently, they are so friendly, and I love how amazing they are,” said second-year student Jordan Flaum.

This spot did go through some upgrades, and it made some students rather excited to see what would come of the new Otter Express.

Third-year student Gabriel Reyes said “I was here my first year, and I remember they used to have a lot of good sandwich options like the JBR (a favorite burger from the Wow Cafe), etc. I was excited to see that back.”

There have been many different struggles and hard work put into this spot to ensure that the OE could open the day it did.

There are a lot of new additions that are making it to where this OE has a smooth and fantastic Grand Opening, and even if there are struggles along the way, there’s some faith that this spot will be able to overcome it.

“Some benefits are the double registers speed up the speed of service which is great,” said Tyler Adams the director of dining services at CSUMB. “Also [with] the new pizza oven, we’re able to do pizzas to order, instead of pre-cooking it ahead of time and then reheating it. We’ve got a lot of new equipment and some new culinary staff in the back to help with the food.”

Although it took some time, the wait is finally over, and its booming business is ready for everyone to enjoy.

The OE workers are hoping to make as many people as happy as possible, with meeting accommodations and making the OE an enjoyable experience for everyone.
