Him

Once upon a time, there was a girl who dreamt of a boy.

He wears a flat cap, a flannel, leather low cut boots, and an array of bracelets that snake up his arms. He walks with a purpose. He tells others that he doesn’t know where he is going, but she knows that he will go everywhere. That’s what she loves about him. His sense for adventure.

He dreams of having a girl to love, however, he didn’t see the girl standing right in front of him. He would describe his dream girl and he hasn’t realized that the girl in front of him was everything he ever wants. All the things he wanted in a girl came naturally to this one girl. The girl standing in front of him. How could he not see her?

She loved to read, write, and dream of far off places. She enjoys the smallest things in life, such as taking a pile of dried leaves and throwing them into the air. Watching them swirl around her. She cherishes even the bitterest coffee and the coldest days. She loves to laugh and smile. She craves deep conversations. She loves her flaws and embraces them. She loves herself and now she wants to share her love with the boy.

The kind of girl he wants is a girl who loves to talk of the far places that she has been in the corner of the library. He wants a girl who smiles at nature and wants to explore it with wondering eyes. He desires a girl who will enjoy the deep, meaningful conversations. Who will sit in silence without feeling uncomfortable. He wants a girl that laughs uncontrollably at her own cheesy puns. He wants her to laugh at his goofiness and love every part of him. His flaws and things about him that he thinks will push a girl away.

She notices the small things about him. He has a crinkle to his eyes when he smiles. A booming laugh that vibrates the room, making others laugh with him. A personality that brings curiosity to others who want to find out more about him. A trusting soul that compels you to tell him all your secrets.

He wants to be happy.

She wants him to be happy, even if it isn’t with her.
