Curly Velasquez of Buzzfeed

If you are familiar with YouTube, it is extremely likely that you have seen Curly Velasquez featured on Buzzfeed or one of Buzzfeed’s several spinoff channels, Pero Like, which celebrates the relatable commonalities of Latinx culture. Velasquez is a Latino, gay male who is proud of his identities, creating content that educates and inspires those to be proud of themselves, as well. The Curly V Show, one of Velasquez’s most recent projects, is another channel on YouTube created to provide Velasquez with a platform for embracing his individuality, while simultaneously sharing a more intimate perspective of his life with his audience.

In honor of the upcoming Hispanx/Latinx Heritage Month, Velasquez will be performing at California State University, Monterey Bay on Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Black Box Cabaret.
