Omega Delta Phi Fraternity Inc: Fraternity of the Year

This year’s Multicultural Greek Council’s Fraternity of the year was awarded to Omega Delta Phi Fraternity Inc. The Multicultural Greek Council strives to live out five core pillars: Academics, Leadership, Service, Social Justice, Support. Omega Delta Phi was selected for fulfilling all these pillars and going above and beyond.

Kristen Vega, the Greek life and community engagement coordinator who presented the award to the fraternity, said, “This year, I saw an increase in involvement with the campus and local communities. I saw incredible creativity and extraordinary commitment to the betterment of self and society.” She credited Omega Delta Phi for having this impact with Greek life on campus.

Omega Delta Phi’s President Rickie Wattanakasaem says their mission is, “Based off of trying to reach the needs of the community, but our base pillars are unity, honesty, integrity, and leadership- through our service we try to embody those sacraments.” Wattanakasaem also mentioned the group’s recent focus on spreading awareness of Lupus after the recent passing of a fraternity brother from the disease.

When awarded Fraternity of the Year Vega said, “The 2018-2019 Fraternity of the Year’s winner has worked hard to increase awareness for causes dear to their hearts and insure each member is academically successful.” Omega Delta Phi Fraternity Inc. is the best example of this at California State University, Monterey Bay.

Omega Delta Phi would like to wish a special congratulations to their graduating seniors: AJ Diaz, Alex Rodriguez, Dallas Dituri, Hector Guzman, Hunter Pietrzak, Isaac Martinez, Jared Reyes, and Jose Garcia.
